Roses are Beautiful and so are You

As we are currently in the Fire Element/Summer Season - when things can get hot and we may become Fast and Fiery and thorny, my invitation to you is to take time out of your busy lives to stop and smell the Roses - or slow down and feel into our connection with nature and our friends and loved ones and the beauty of the simple, free things in life.

A wonderful Acupressure point for this time of year is Ht - 7. See image below

Ht 7 helps to keep us cool emotionally and may help to reduce symptoms of insomnia, restlessness, anxiety and anguish. . The points chinese name ‘Shenmen’ translates to “Spirit Gate”, which means a gate/door to access our spirit/mind/emotion. When you do acupressure on this point - rub up and down light to medium pressure for up to 3 minutes. This can help open the gate/door to relieve the energy blockage for our spirit/mind/emotion. I needle this point in clinic a lot for hormonal related issues. There is a similar point on the ear and I often leave plasters with seeds on my clients ears to be retained for a few days as they leave clinic , particularly during summer months or during periods of emotional change, hormonal insomnia or anxiety.

The Rose - My mother strongly encouraged me to have Roses in my wedding bouquet - I was leaning toward wild flowers, not being a fan of Roses at the time but went with her suggestion and had wild hand picked by my friends - natural flowers at the church and venue but a Rose bouquet it was.

Since then - I have connected with Roses reluctanctly here and there. I have a picture of a Rose that my father grew in my clinic and it has immense healing energy.

I also use a powerful feminine Rose Deck gifted to me by a great friend, my clients love this deck and it always delivers soulful, nurturing and supportive messages.

Did you know that there is a rose named The ‘Menopause’ Rose and a percentage of the proceeds of it’s sale go towards a menopuase charity in the UK. The Rose is pink and looks a little like this Rose in my newsletter.

Also - did you know that the word Rosary comes from the Latin word ‘ Rosarium’ meaning a garden or garland of Roses, collecting prayers was seen as growing a garden.

As I slow down, relax and lean into my midlife - taking the time to ‘smell the Roses’ is more and more a feature in my life and my sense of purpose is leaning towards being more present and conscious and joyful and intentional, prunning anything that feel’s too weighty.

In turn, I’m devoting more & more time to my mantra practice and will have an offering soon and more about that in my next newsletter.

Have a great August x
